Currently, the 7805 Voltage Regulator IC is manufactured by Texas Instruments, ON Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, Diodes incorporated, Infineon Technologies, etc. Dropout decreases at lower load currents. On-chip trimming adjusts the reference/ouput voltage to 1%. Current limit is also trimmed, minimizing the stress on both the regulator and powersource circuitry under overload conditions. The LT1086 is pin compatible with older 3-terminal adjustableregulators.
